BASIC laboratory has facilities to test slurries for cementing services and facilities for testing
acidizing and stimulation designs. The laboratory provides cover 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Before a cement job, samples of cement, additives and water are sent to the laboratory from the rig
location to allow each slurry design to be tested to confirm additive concentrations.
Cement samples, or blended samples from silos along with samples of the mix water are taken at the
location during the job for post job analysis should this be necessary.
Cementing tests are performed following procedures described in API Spec 10, or Spec 10a,
API testing of cement samples can be undertaken to ensure that samples conform to international standards.
The following cementing tests are routinely performed.
Thickening time at BHCT and pressure.
Compressive strength at BHST and API pressure.
Atmospheric consistency.
API Operating Free Water Test.
Fluid Loss with 1000 psi differential pressure and at temperatures up to 350°F.
Rheology at surface and at temperatures up to 195°F.
Gel strength
Gas Migration
BP Settling test
Determination of Slurry Density
Mud/Spacer/Cement compatibility
Mud removal and Spacer Wettability
Shear bond strength
The following stimulation tests can be performed.
Water Analysis: Specific Gravity, pH, Chloride, total Iron
Scale Solubility Testing
Emulsion Testing
Sludge Tendency Testing.
Acidizing Testing: Acid Strength Determination, Acid Solubility, Percent Acid Residue.
